Guidelines for Submissions

1. Depicts the current theme of the gallery- All of the artwork must communicate the current theme of the gallery. The themes will periodically change. You may submit a work that you've done in the past...just make sure that it fits the theme.

2. The work is done with excellence- One of our core values at Johnson Ferry is to do ministry with excellence." So, we want to make sure that all of the creative works represent the artist's best effort. The gallery is our act of worship unto the Lord. So let's honor Him with the excellence He deserves!

3. A caption and a Scripture verse- Each creative work submitted to the gallery must include a brief description explaining the inspiration for the art. This is your chance to tell the story behind the artwork. Share with others the reasons why you created your work. The caption must not exceed 75 words. In addition to this caption, you must also include a Scripture verse or passage that pertains to your artwork. Both the caption and Scripture verse must be typed and turned in on a separate sheet of paper. Make sure that your name is on the sheet of paper. We will create uniform card(s) that will be mounted next to each artist's work. The Worship and Arts Ministry reserves the right to edit your caption where appropriate. There are a couple of reasons for doing this.

First, not everyone sees the world through the eyes of an artist. One of our core values is "to reach as many people for Christ as possible, locally and globally." We want the meaning of each piece to be clear and to communicate the message of Christ to as many people as possible.

Second, we want to turn people's attention to the word of God. We believe that "preaching and teaching God's word is central to discipling believers." Our hope is that the "Glimpses of His Glory" gallery will inspire people to study and reflect on Scripture.

4. Contact Jonathan Munson- In order for us to be prepared for the amount of artwork being displayed in the gallery, please contact Jonathan Munson and let him know what kind of work you are submitting (ie, one painting, two poems, one photograph). Jonathan Munson- 770-795-3223 or jonathan.munson@jfbc.org This is extremely important!!

5. The work must not contain any distasteful content. All of the creative works submitted must edify the name of Christ and His church. If you have any question about the content of your creative work, you can contact Jonathan Munson. The Worship and Arts Ministry reserves the right to decide what works are displayed in the gallery. Our best advice is: "If in doubt, leave it out!"

6. All works submitted must be original and not reproductions of another artist's work. We take this very seriously!! Please do not copy another artist's work and then display it as your own. This is the equivalent to plagiarism. If you get most of your inspiration from another artist's work, please give credit where credit is due.

7. All works submitted must be a finished product. In addition to meeting the above requirements, all of the creative works must be ready to be hung on the wall. We recommend that all of the works be framed if possible. It is your responsibility to choose framing that best suits your creative work. If you choose to not have your work framed, it must be ready to hang on the wall when submitted. If you are submitting a sculpture or some type of 3 dimensional object, please contact Jonathan Munson.
